Alright, here's a little system which can help a bit for all our poor non-paying members. You do realize that in the "toys" section that, if you select 2003-2004 stats you only get the top 14 players right, by FPPG or FPPM? And if you get gold or platinum you can select the top 100 players in that category. That basically gives them an advantage in the draft and during the regular season.
Well, by using Microsoft Excel YOU can increase the number you can view by FPPG or FPPM up to however many you want.
Here's how it works:
Go to Toys, and then go to advanced search. In case you didn’t know, its right beneath the search button
Then go to search players by team and order it by FPPG or FPPM, depending on what you want. Of course, you're thinking: what? but I'm only viewing ten players from one team!?!?
Then, simply open the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program.
Copy and paste the ten players and then insert that team into the spreadsheet. The first time you may include the top row, which labels all the stuff, eg. PPG, FPPG, RPG etc.
Go back, select the next team’s players, and copy them and all their stats too. And continue on and on until you finished the players from every team.
Yes, it’s a long and arduous process, but one that will help you immensely with drafting. When you finished, you should have a long list of players and their included stats. But they’re not sorted yet. For those who haven’t used excel yet, here’s how to sort. (save a backup just in case)
Go to Data -> Sort. Then it says “sort by” highlight the corresponding column for FPPG. Select “descending”. Then if you want to sort it by another value after that simply continue with the other two sorting pull-downs. Finally, if you have copied the header row, select “header row”, if not, “no header row”
Congrats! Now you have sorted all the players from the league in order! If you want to sort them by points or FPPG or whatever, go ahead!
Remember though that this is a general guide, with players of course getting older, getting traded, or having a breakout season. Use common sense and follow the news to achieve the best results. This will help most during the draft- you can isolate those players who don’t have a high FPPM but do have a high FPPG, so you have a general roster which has a high FPPG, thus giving you maximum points in less time.
If you want to continue this during the regular season you’ll need to update it at regular intervals. You can also use these intervals to identify which players are on a rising or lowering trend. Also, you won’t be able to predict rookies or players with injuries using this method.
Well, I hope this helps a lot! Remember, have fun and enjoy yourselves!
